We are seeking a Director of Research and Information Systems (Research, Analysis, and Statistics Manager 3) to join our
Office of Education Innovation and Improvement
(EII) at the
Oregon Department of Education
. This is a Management Service-Supervisory, limited duration position ending 11/1/2027. This position has the potential to become permanent dependent on funding.
This position is primarily remote with occasional in-office work required based on business or operational needs. Candidates must hold a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record or be able to provide an acceptable alternative means of transportation. The Oregon Department of Education supports remote work to the fullest extent possible while ensuring it does not interfere with business operations.

What You Will Do
This position plans, organizes, and manages information, data systems, and research that supports the regulatory operations of programs and implements educational and workforce development strategic initiatives in support of Oregon students, schools, districts, colleges, and institutions within the purview of this Office and its specific responsibilities.
The Director of Research and Information Systems will provide strategic counsel to the Assistant Superintendent for Education Innovation and Improvement while assuming significant day-to-day responsibilities for projects and tasks within the Office and advancing and maintaining cross-agency, district, and community relationships.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead and manage data systems and research initiatives that support regulatory operations, school improvement, and workforce development across Oregon's education system.
- Oversee applied research and performance data analysis to inform policy, monitor outcomes, and advance equity and student success statewide.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop professional staff, ensuring effective team performance, collaboration, and alignment with agency goals.
- Serve as a strategic advisor and partner to the Assistant Superintendent, contributing to policy development, budget management, and implementation of statewide education initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with school districts, colleges, and community partners to promote collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement.

Minimum Qualifications (Need to Have):
Seven years of supervision, management, or progressively related experience;
OR
four years of related experience and a bachelor's degree in a related field.
Minimum qualifications must be met to qualify for this position.

- Salary Range: The range listed is the Non-PERS salary range. Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) participating members will have their base salary increased by 6.95% and pay a 6% employee contribution to PERS.
