Activity Coordinator Job Description

As an Activity Coordinator, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in assisted living and nursing home settings. Your enthusiasm and creativity will shine as you design, implement, and oversee engaging activities that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and physical well-being. You'll be the heartbeat of our community, fostering connections among residents and ensuring they enjoy fulfilling experiences every day.

What you'll do

  • Develop and coordinate a diverse range of recreational activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
  • Plan special events and outings, ensuring all logistics are managed effectively for a seamless experience.
  • Collaborate with healthcare staff to integrate therapeutic activities that support memory care and dementia care.
  • Engage with residents on a personal level to understand their preferences and encourage participation.
  • Maintain an organized activity schedule that accommodates individual needs while promoting group involvement.
  • Document participation levels and feedback to continuously improve programming.
  • Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed, ensuring their comfort and safety during activities.
  • Provide support for residents with disabilities, ensuring an inclusive environment for all.

Basic qualifications

  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff.
  • Experience in caregiving or senior care settings, particularly in long-term care or home & community care environments.

Preferred qualifications

  • Background in event planning or recreational therapy.
  • Familiarity with Alzheimer's care, dementia care, and memory care practices.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of aging issues counseling or social work principles.
