Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Local Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods and materials within designated routes while ensuring timely and safe delivery. This position requires a strong understanding of commercial driving regulations and the ability to operate various types of vehicles, including manual transmission trucks, forklifts, and tractor-trailers.

Schedule Details:

  • Monday–Friday, with at least two Saturdays per month as needed
  • Target of 45–50 hours per week, depending on freight volume
  • Typical start time is between 5:00–6:00 AM MST, with slight adjustments based on daily freight availability

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a variety of vehicles including dump trucks, delivery trucks, and tractor-trailers.
  • Navigate assigned routes efficiently while adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
  • Load and unload cargo as required, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, routes traveled, and deliveries made.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers and other team members regarding delivery schedules and any issues encountered on the road.
  • Assist in training new drivers on route driving techniques and safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
  • Experience in route driving with a strong understanding of local roadways.
  • Proficiency in operating manual transmission vehicles is preferred.
  • Familiarity with forklift operation is a plus.
  • Ability to lift heavy loads safely and efficiently during loading/unloading processes.
  • Previous experience as a delivery driver or in commercial driving is highly desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety practices.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
