Senior General Accountant

Company Overview

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled
Senior Accountant
. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in US Gaap accounting principles and Tax Regulation both federal and state, direct and indirect, proficiency in
SAP
, and experience working within a
matrix organization
. This role requires close collaboration with local operations and the corporate office in Italy, ensuring accurate cost analysis, compliance, and strategic financial support. The position is
based 100% in the Charlotte office
and requires occasional travel to U.S. offices in
Santa Rosa, CA
and
Des Moines, IA
, with initial training taking place in
Iowa for several weeks
.

Key Responsibilities

AP Accounting Duties:

  • Account for purchase invoices on a daily basis, as well as manual journal entries at period-end, including payroll, inventory, depreciation and amortization.
  • Evaluate and carry out adjustment entries at period-end such as accruals and releases of funds.
  • Perform and review ageing of creditors and carry out payments.
  • Monitor variances between forecasted and actual costs; provide actionable insights to improve cost efficiency.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes, including cost projections and margin analysis.
  • Utilize
    SAP
    for cost tracking, reporting, and integration with financial systems.

General Accounting Duties:

  • Oversee general ledger accuracy and ensure timely month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare financial statements and management reports in compliance with corporate and international standards.
  • Ensure adherence to local accounting standards as well as corporate accounting policies.
  • Carry over periodic tax filings and tax return statements
  • Coordinate audits (internal and external) and manage compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Act as a financial liaison between the Charlotte office and
    the European corporate headquarters.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a matrix environment to align cost and financial strategies.
  • Perform additional tasks as needed to achieve project goals and ensure successful outcomes
  • Travel occasionally to U.S. offices and attend initial training in Iowa.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum
    5+ years of cost accounting experience
    , with exposure to general accounting and financial reporting.
  • Strong proficiency in
    SAP
    and advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience working in a
    matrix organization
    with international stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally and complete initial training in Iowa.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of GAAP principles
  • Experience with multi-currency transactions and European corporate reporting requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively across cultures and time zones
