Job Title: Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer – Harness & Interconnect

Employment Type: Full-Time, Onsite

Job Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer specializing in harness and interconnect systems. This role focuses on autonomous mechanical design, testing, systems engineering, and mentorship within complex tactical missile projects. The ideal candidate will leverage expertise in 3D modeling, electrical system integration, and harnessing solutions to deliver high-performance and compliant designs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute detailed mechanical design, test planning, and test execution for harness and interconnect systems.
  • Apply systems engineering principles to ensure designs meet functional, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Mentor and review work of other engineers, providing guidance on technical solutions and best practices.
  • Develop and coordinate technical data packages, proposals, and estimates, supporting earned value management.
  • Influence organizational strategy through technical expertise and strategic vision within the department.
  • Flexibly support organizational needs, adapting responsibilities based on project priorities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM and a minimum of 10 years of relevant engineering experience, or equivalent with an advanced degree.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government security clearance required; U.S. citizenship required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex harness and interconnect systems across the product lifecycle.
  • Proficiency in 3D mechanical modeling and drafting with commercial CAD software.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to deconstruct higher-level tasks into actionable work packages.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience designing complex harness systems, including round wire, RF, and rigid-flex harnesses.
  • Knowledge of mixed-signal harness design, differential signaling, and EMI/RFI/crosstalk mitigation.
  • Familiarity with ECAD software, PCB design, signal integrity, and thermal management.
  • Experience with industry and military standards, system architecture, requirements development, verification, and validation.
  • Ability to design and manufacture machined parts, injection-molded components, and harness assemblies.
  • Exposure to flex and rigid-flex design, adhesives, dielectrics, coverlays, stiffeners, and copper weight calculations.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and fostering technical growth within a collaborative environment.
