Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cook/Assistant Teacher to support both our dietary program and our classroom environment. This unique role includes preparing nutritious meals and snacks for students while also assisting lead teachers with educational activities and classroom operations. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with children, have strong organizational skills, and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Duties

Cooking & Dietary Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare daily meals and snacks according to established menus
  • Ensure proper food safety, sanitation, and handling procedures at all times
  • Support menu planning and grocery ordering
  • Follow all safety protocols related to food handling and kitchen operations
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and food service areas
  • Clean up after lunch and ensure all food prep and service areas meet required standards

Assistant Teacher Responsibilities

  • Assist lead teachers with preparing educational materials and classroom setup
  • Support students during lessons, activities, meals, and transitions
  • Help maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Participate in classroom activities, projects, and special events
  • Provide one-on-one or small-group assistance to students as needed
  • Help supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities

Experience

  • Prior experience as a cook, dietary aide, or in food service is highly beneficial
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling techniques is essential
  • Experience with menu planning, food preparation, grocery ordering, or cooking is a plus
  • Previous kitchen or food service experience in a child care setting is helpful
  • Experience working with children or in educational settings is desirable but not required
