PeerSource is currently recruiting for a
Building Controls Specialist
on a
Direct Hire
basis. This role is based out of West Palm Beach or Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Summary

We are seeking a skilled Building Controls Specialist to commission, program, troubleshoot, and service building automation systems. This role requires expertise in HVAC, direct digital controls, networking, and mechanical/electrical systems. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional customer support while ensuring effective implementation and performance of automation systems across various projects.

Responsibilities

  • Perform startup, commissioning, and servicing of building automation systems, including pneumatic, electrical, and electronic controls.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair control systems and equipment, ensuring functionality and customer satisfaction.
  • Program and commission DDC systems, including setup of operator workstations and network configurations.
  • Maintain, update, and calibrate systems using electronic test equipment, laptops, and software tools.
  • Customize programming and graphical interfaces for project-specific applications.
  • Conduct daily or as-needed backups of job databases and maintain accurate as-built documentation.
  • Coordinate with project managers and customers to understand requirements and ensure smooth project execution.
  • Track and communicate job progress, and provide regular updates to lead personnel and management.
  • Ensure proper turnover to service and uphold safety and asset security standards on-site.

Required Skills

  • 3+ years' experience in control systems or building automation.
  • Proficiency in HVAC systems, DDC, networking, and control system commissioning.
  • Strong ability to diagnose, program, and resolve issues across mechanical, electrical, and IT systems.
  • Competency with tools such as Visio, Excel, Word, and electronic test equipment (e.g., multimeters, network terminals).
  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus relevant technical coursework or certifications.
