Our Financial Services client, based in Midtown, NYC, is seeking a Java Development consultant to join their team. This position is hybrid, onsite 3 days per week. Local candidates to NY Metro only (NO RELOCATION).

Role description:

  • Work closely with the global Repo IT development team
  • Develop a strong understanding of the FIS Apex and Transcend applications - functionality and flows, being used globally
  • Understand the US-specific legacy application flows, and contribute to re-engineering and aligning them with the global flows.
  • Deliver data extraction, transform, and loading tasks related to Transcend implementation in NY
  • Ensure code quality and delivery timelines.
  • Propose solutions and implement the same, keeping best practices in mind.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willing to learn new technologies/tools as required, in order to effectively deliver output
  • Contribute to the firm's Transformation agenda by adopting standard toolchains and migrating application infrastructure to the cloud.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strong programming background, with 6-12
    years of core Java/J2EE experience with Spring, Hibernate, Springboot, Rest APIs, and Relational databases (Oracle/MSSQL), working on Unix/Linux platforms.
  • Experience building multithreaded real-time systems with a high volume of messages using Tibco EMS/RV/IBM MQ/Solace/Kafka or similar middleware, handling XML and JSON message parsing, building, and publishing.
  • Familiarity with Development and source code versioning tools such as Maven/Gradle, JIRA, and Git is required, as is experience with CI/CD tools and Jenkins/GIT pipelines.
  • Familiar with scheduling agents like Autosys, etc.
  • Good problem-solving skills, Good understanding of programming concepts, design patterns, and multi-tier enterprise application architecture.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Experience with reporting tools like iReports will be a plus
  • Experience with Cloud/DevOps tools will be a plus
  • Knowledge of Investment banking (Fixed income – Bonds/Repo in particular) domain, or Collateral Management and Optimization domain.
