Duties

  • Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and eating.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, and blood pressure.
  • Provide support in medication administration under the supervision of nursing staff.
  • Help with mobility assistance using equipment such as Hoyer lifts and wheelchairs.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by following infection control protocols.
  • Document patient care activities accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members regarding patient needs and concerns.
  • Support patients with special needs, including those with developmental disabilities, Alzheimer's disease, or dementia.
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance skills related to caregiving and patient service.

Skills

The ideal candidate should possess the following skills:

  • Experience with Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks or other EHR systems.
  • Familiarity with critical care environments and acute care settings.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and HIPAA regulations.
  • Proficiency in phlebotomy and vital sign monitoring.
  • Experience in long-term care, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or hospice care.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations including geriatrics and pediatrics.
  • Skills in memory care techniques for patients with Alzheimer's or dementia.
  • Understanding of aseptic techniques and infection control measures.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with patients and their families effectively.
