Newport Veterinary Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. Salary: $ $17.00 per hour, determined by the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications.

Schedule: This position offers a full-time schedule, Monday through Friday from 7:50 am to 6:00 pm, with every other Saturday 7:30 am - 12 pm.

Veterinary Assistant Duties:

  • Assist veterinarians and technicians during exams, treatments, and surgeries
  • Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately
  • Prepare exam rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment
  • Collect lab samples (blood, urine, fecal) and assist with basic lab testing
  • Administer medications and vaccines under veterinary supervision
  • Communicate with pet owners about treatment plans and follow-ups
  • Maintain medical records and ensure a clean, stocked, and organized clinic

Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of veterinary experience is preferred.
  • Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
  • Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
