Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Access Control Technician to join our team. This role involves installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting security and surveillance systems across various client sites. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in low voltage systems, electrical work, and networked security solutions. The position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects involving system design, cabling, and remote access software, ensuring the safety and security of our clients' facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and service access control systems including CCTV, IDS, sensors, fire alarms, and alarm systems.
  • Conduct system testing and troubleshooting to ensure optimal operation of security hardware and software.
  • Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals related to security and telecommunication systems.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, and cable management equipment for system installation and maintenance.
  • Perform cabling tasks including running low voltage wiring for security systems, surveillance cameras, sensors, and access control devices.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, modifications, and service reports.
  • Provide remote access support for security systems via specialized software platforms.
  • Collaborate with construction teams during new installations or upgrades involving security infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC standards and local electrical codes during all installation activities.
  • Offer technical support and training to clients on system operation and basic troubleshooting procedures.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a service technician in security systems or related fields such as telecommunication or electrical work.
  • Strong knowledge of computer networking, computer hardware, system design, and low voltage electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with surveillance equipment including CCTV cameras, sensors, fire alarms, and alarm systems.
  • Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals related to security infrastructure.
  • Experience with remote access software for system monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Mechanical knowledge combined with proficiency in using hand tools, power tools (including NEC compliant tools), and cabling techniques.
  • Knowledge of locksmithing principles is a plus.
  • Construction experience or background in installing security infrastructure is advantageous.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues efficiently on-site or remotely.
  • Valid driver's license preferred for field service travel requirements. This position is integral to maintaining the safety of our clients' facilities through expert installation and maintenance of advanced security systems. Pay: $ $28.36 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
