Role
The Head of Master Data Management (MDM) is responsible for leading the strategy, development, and execution of master data management initiatives across the organization. This executive role involves overseeing the MDM team, establishing data governance frameworks, and ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and accessibility of master data. The Head of MDM will collaborate with senior leadership and various business units to align MDM strategies with overall business objectives and drive data-driven decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive MDM strategy that aligns with the organization's goals, ensuring that master data is treated as a critical asset.
- Lead and mentor the MDM team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement in data management practices.
- Establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, and best practices to ensure data quality, compliance, and security across the organization.
- Collaborate with business leaders, IT, and data stewardship teams to define master data requirements and ensure alignment with business processes.
- Evaluate and select MDM tools and technologies, overseeing their implementation and integration with existing systems to enhance master data capabilities.
- Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for MDM initiatives, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with business objectives.
- Communicate effectively with executive leadership and stakeholders, providing insights on MDM initiatives, data quality, and the value of master data to the organization.
- Lead change management efforts related to MDM initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions and adoption of new processes and technologies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in data management
- Experience with Master Data Management and data governance in a leadership role.
- Proven ability to create and implement data strategies that align with business objectives and drive value from master data.
- Knowledge of MDM tools (e.g., Informatica MDM, Reltio, etc) and data integration technologies, along with experience in cloud-based data solutions (e.g., GCP, AWS).
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing teams, with strong project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strong focus on data quality and governance.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex concepts to diverse audiences, including executive leadership and technical teams.
The Head of MDM plays a critical role in shaping the organization's approach to master data management, ensuring that master data is leveraged effectively to drive business success and informed decision-making.
