Job Summary
The Vice President, Engineering leads and directs the engineering teams of Daifuku Intralogistics Project Execution team. Responsibilities include leading ASRS Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Controls Engineering, Structural Engineering, and Mechanical Systems Engineering. The priorities for this position include strategic planning, project design, quality assurance, and problem resolution. Executes project design to meet company objectives, partners with management, and develops systems and controls to ensure compliance with quality standards.
Responsibilities- Ensures alignment of Daifuku Intralogistics Projects' engineering activities with the overall Daifuku Intralogistics strategy
- Develops goals and metrics to drive execution of strategic initiatives for the Daifuku Intralogistics Project Execution Team
- Provides effective leadership to management and staff of the engineering teams
- Coaches and mentors staff to optimize performance, engagement, professional development, and quality of work experience
- Provides hands-on oversight of projects and services to ensure timely execution, follow-up, and closure of issues
- Provides strategic hiring plans and assists in the execution of hiring quality individuals for the engineering teams
- Reports regularly on strategies and goals and key business metrics to Daifuku Intralogistics business leadership and peers
- Proactively identifies emerging solutions to support business growth and business excellence throughout Daifuku Intralogistics
- Regularly interacts with engineering, operational, and project management managers and supervisors to stay informed of all operational aspects
- Initiates and sponsors the development and implementation of quality improvement projects that improve operational cost efficiency, employee productivity, and level of customer service
- Manages vendor relationships to ensure successful projects, return on investment, and new business opportunities
- Complies with the Daifuku Intralogistics's policies and procedures for protecting internal and customer information and the confidentiality of information in accordance with signed confidentiality agreements and federal and state regulations
- Supports sales and PM by engaging with key clients on technical and system performance strategies and concerns
- Collaborate with Daifuku Global teams on North American compliance, features, and requirements for global products
- Manage and align resources to support escalations for both active projects and existing systems
- Travel up to 30%
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, or related subject or equivalent; Master's degree a plus
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in managing engineering, large project portfolios, and diverse and large technical skills groups
- Minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in engineering technology development and project management
- Strong operational background and proven track record of accomplishments in a manufacturing, engineering, or construction environment
- Experience working in an organization with complex infrastructure, applications, and procedures in a cross-functional team environment
