Overview

Elite Talent Hub is hiring on behalf of our client for an AWS Cloud Architect / Senior Developer to lead a large-scale Java/J2EE application modernization and migration initiative.

You'll drive architecture design, replatforming/refactoring strategies, and cloud-native transformation to AWS — ensuring scalability, performance, and seamless migration with minimal downtime.

This is a hybrid role located in Rockville, MD with 3 days on-site required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead architecture refinement and migration planning for enterprise Java/J2EE applications.
  • Design reusable reference architectures and guide development teams in modernization best practices.
  • Modernize legacy Java codebases into microservices and integrate with AWS services.
  • Select and implement appropriate AWS services (EC2, EKS, RDS, S3, Lambda, API Gateway).
  • Implement containerization using Docker/Kubernetes and automate infrastructure via CloudFormation or Terraform.
  • Ensure cost optimization, scalability, and governance across cloud solutions.
  • Collaborate with leadership to align milestones and communicate progress

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience migrating applications to AWS.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in Java/J2EE, Spring, Hibernate, Microservices, and AWS Cloud Architecture.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform/CloudFormation, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and optimize distributed, cloud-based environments.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
