Quality Control Inspector

POSITION SUMMARY
The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for inspecting and troubleshooting quality issues on the job site and working with the self-perform crew to resolve issues. This position is also responsible for completing audits and necessary paperwork to ensure compliance.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Promote a strong culture throughout the field and maintain Cooper Steel's core priorities: Safety, Quality, Production.
- Ensure the proper storage and control of welding electrodes, ensuring compliance with dry storage requirements.
- Manage bolt inventory and storage to ensure accurate receipt and availability of all required bolts for each job.
- Order electrodes and bolts based on job requirements.
- Conduct Skidmore testing to verify bolt performance prior to installation and document all test results.
- Maintain accurate records of weld placements across the job site.
- Perform visual inspections and coordinate third-party inspections.
- Provide ongoing feedback to the self-perform team regarding work quality and compliance.
- Create and maintain professional relationships with third-party inspectors.
- Maintain all inspection reports and ensure timely completion of corrective actions for any identified issues or rejections.
- Develop effective relationships with the self-perform team to support seamless project execution.
- Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES
No supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/ OR EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the steel erection/welding, or equivalent combination of education and related experience
- OSHA 30 Hour
- Knowledge of AISC, AWS, RCSC codes and standards
OTHER SKILLS
Strong functional and technical skills; ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals; good judgment; strong attention to detail; ability to work effectively with others. While performing certain duties of the job, the employee is required to stand, stoop, bend, twist, lift, pull, and reach. Use of hands for gripping and grasping required. Specific vision abilities are required. Lifting is required up to 75 lbs. Must be flexible in hours worked and willing to work overtime.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Position performs work in the field environment including job site conditions, varying terrain, weather conditions, ability to access multi-level structures, use of personal protective equipment, and machine/equipment use. This position is 100% travel with a paid rotation schedule.
