Toast is driven by building the all-in-one restaurant platform that helps restaurants operate their business, increase sales, engage guests, and keep employees happy. As Toast continues to grow, our Talent Acquisition team is scaling to match that ambition. We're looking for a Director of Talent Acquisition Operations to architect the systems, processes, and insights that power a world-class global recruiting organization.

About this roll* (Responsibilities)
As the
Director of TA Operations
, you will architect the infrastructure for scalable growth. You will design, build, and optimize the systems, processes, and insights that empower our global recruiting organization to be both high-performing and human-centered. This role operates at the critical intersection of strategy and execution—driving operational excellence and ensuring every hire, from high-volume to highly specialized, feels seamless and distinctly Toast. You are the leader who sees TA Operations as the heartbeat of a high-performing recruiting organization—someone who can turn vision into systems, data into strategy, and complexity into clarity

You will:

  • Lead and grow a global TA Operations team spanning TA systems, analytics, compliance, and candidate experience.
  • Build and optimize scalable recruiting processes and infrastructure that support hundreds to thousands of hires annually across multiple countries and functions.
  • Partner closely with TA Leaders, Finance, People Products, and COEs across People Analytics, DEI, and Total Rewards to align strategy, resources, and insights.
  • Drive the TA technology roadmap, ensuring we leverage data, automation, and emerging AI capabilities to enhance efficiency, equity, and decision-making.
  • Establish and maintain global compliance frameworks that mitigate risk—including fraud prevention and data protection—in a rapidly evolving AI and talent landscape.
  • Create transparent, actionable reporting and analytics that empower business leaders with real-time hiring performance insights.
  • Serve as a thought partner and advisor to the Head of Talent Acquisition, bringing external perspective on innovation, technology, and future-of-work trends.
  • Champion a best-in-class candidate experience, ensuring our systems and processes reflect Toast's culture of hospitality and inclusivity.

Do you have the right ingredients?* (Requirements)

  • 10+ years of experience in Talent Acquisition Operations, HR Operations, or related fields within organizations of 5,000+ employees.
  • Proven success leading global TA Ops functions supporting high-volume and specialized hiring.
  • Demonstrated expertise in TA systems (Greenhouse, Workday, Brighthire), data analytics, and process design.
  • Strategic and operational thinker—able to move seamlessly from high-level planning to hands-on execution.
  • Deep understanding of global hiring compliance, risk management, and data integrity.
  • Collaborative leader who thrives at the intersection of People, Finance, Legal and Technology teams.
  • Curiosity and passion for emerging trends in recruiting technology, particularly AI and automation, and a track record of experimentation and implementation.
  • Excellent communication and change management skills; capable of influencing across multiple levels and regions.

Special Sauce* (Nice to Haves)

  • Background in systems transformation—migrating or integrating our current recruiting tech stack.
  • Familiarity with fraud prevention strategies and ethical AI principles in recruiting technology.
  • A knack for designing metrics that matter—balancing speed, quality, equity, and experience.
