Monroe, North Carolina, United States First Care Medical Clinic Full time

Overview of First Care Medical Clinic

For over three decades, First Care Medical Clinic has been a leader in patient-centered primary care across North and South Carolina. With multiple clinics, telehealth services, and convenient hours from Monday to Saturday, we are dedicated to closing gaps in healthcare by providing comprehensive, coordinated care. Our services range from internal medicine and pediatrics to psychiatric counseling and on-site diagnostic evaluations. Our long-standing commitment is to serve our patients with exceptional care, and we are always looking for innovative ways to improve.

Our Core Belief

At First Care Medical Clinic, we believe that the patient is the most important person. We are here to serve the patient. We see ourselves as public servants, and without the patient, our practice does not exist. Patients do not have to come to First Care Medical Clinic. Patients choose us from many options, and it is a privilege to provide their care. This understanding is what guides our work ethic daily.

We have a foundational belief that there is no such thing as "patient non-compliance." When a patient faces challenges with a treatment plan, we look inward first to assess whether we have been compliant. It is our professional duty to be compliant in our approach—to listen, to educate, to engage, and to adapt our care to meet the patient where they are. Our role is to identify and resolve any communication gaps or social barriers. Our success is measured by the patient's well-being, and we hold ourselves accountable for it.

Position Overview

First Care Medical Clinic is seeking college graduates, who have a strong interest in healthcare, a desire to serve patients and want to earn a pathway into leadership. We have a unique approach to patient-centered care. Given this, we are not hiring for skills or experience. Instead, we are focused on hiring people with a specific disposition. With our unique model, we know we will have to train people in-house and develop them. We do not want people who are seeking to just replicate their past experiences. Instead, we want people who will take a "blank slate" approach and commit themselves to learning the "First Care" way. First Care Medical Clinic has been delivering care to patients for more than 30 years, and there is no doubt we have room to improve. At the same time, we know we do a lot of things well too. We want new hires to commit to learning the "First Care" way. Once you have mastered the "First Care" way, we are open to hearing suggestions from anyone on how we can improve our delivery of care to patients.

What You Will Do

You will be trained as a Medical Assistant in an intensive program, and you will gain comprehensive experience across all aspects of clinic operations with guidance from an experienced clinic manager. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Hands-on patient care: Master all clinical and administrative duties of a Medical Assistant, from preparing patients for exams and taking vitals to managing patient flow and scheduling.
  • Operational fundamentals: Learn how a high-performing clinic operates by assisting with everything from front desk duties to maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients.
  • Mentorship and development: Work directly with an assigned Clinic Manager who will guide your training and development, providing you with a clear understanding of the First Care way of patient care.

Who We Are Looking For

We are seeking individuals who possess the following qualities:

  • Strong work ethic: You are ready to commit to a rigorous training schedule, including working during the initial 12-week ramp-up period.
  • Commitment to learning: You are open to learning First Care's established protocols and systems from the ground up, with a desire to master the fundamentals before seeking opportunities for innovation.
  • Willingness to get your hands dirty: You must be willing to do whatever it takes to support patients and provide the best patient experience – working the front desk, completing triage, performing clinical / lab processes, and cleaning the clinic from waiting room to bathroom
  • Passion for leadership: You are a person who role models the right behaviors by coming to work on time, attending work on scheduled days, following the defined protocols, and treating patients and co-workers with the utmost respect regardless of how anyone treats you

What We Offer

Upon successful completion of the program, you will be on a track to an MA Lead position, where you will have the opportunity to lead and directly impact the quality of care we provide.

If you are a college graduate ready to roll up your sleeves and build a rewarding career in healthcare leadership, we encourage you to apply.
