Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Bilingual Outreach Coordinator to join our team. This role is crucial in advocating for culturally competent care and addressing barriers that prevent individuals in the Hispanic community from seeking treatment. The coordinator collaborates with healthcare providers, social services, and community leaders to develop programs tailored to Hispanic individuals and their families affected by substance use. By fostering trust and engagement, they help bridge gaps in access and ensure clients receive the necessary support to begin their recovery journey. Additionally, the coordinator plays a pivotal role in promoting our programs and services, focusing on education, volunteer management, and public health initiatives. This position requires strong leadership skills, a commitment to social work, and the ability to engage effectively with diverse populations.
Responsibilities
- Outreach and Engagement: Conduct outreach activities targeting the Hispanic community to raise awareness of available outpatient drug and alcohol treatment services.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, schools, and healthcare providers that serve the Hispanic population to promote services.
- Organize and participate in community events and workshops aimed at providing information on substance use disorders and recovery options tailored to the Hispanic community.
- Client Support: Conduct assessments and screenings for potential clients within the Hispanic community, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of their needs.
- Provide bilingual support and education to clients and their families regarding treatment options, recovery resources, and additional social services available to them.
- Assist clients in overcoming barriers to accessing services, such as language, cultural stigmas, transportation, and financial assistance.
- Education and Training: Develop educational materials and programs specifically tailored to the Hispanic community, including culturally appropriate resources that resonate with their values and experiences.
- Provide training and support to staff and volunteers on best practices for engaging with and serving the Hispanic population.
- Collaboration and Networking: Collaborate with local agencies, healthcare providers, and community organizations focused on the Hispanic community to enhance service delivery and connect individuals to relevant resources.
- Actively participate in local coalitions and committees aimed at substance use prevention and recovery, ensuring that the perspective and needs of the Hispanic community are represented.
- Data Collection and Reporting: Collect and maintain accurate records of outreach activities, client interactions, and program outcomes, specifically focusing on engagement within the Hispanic community.
- Prepare reports for program evaluation and funding purposes, demonstrating the impact of outreach efforts on community engagement and resource connection.
Hours: Mon-Fri 8am-4:30pm
Please note that Saturdays may be scheduled from time to time to support events.
Requirements
- Fluent in both Spanish and English (written and verbal)
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Public Health, Community Development or a related field is preferred.
- Strong understanding of Hispanic/Latino culture and community dynamics
- Excellent presentation and public speaking skills
- Experience with paternership development (preferred).
- Strong background in addiction counseling or social work is a plus.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire others.
- Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated experience in program development and implementation.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of Berks County community resources and healthcare landscape (preferred)
- Experience in program development and evalutation (preferred)
- Must have Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation
