Position Description

Position Title: Mold Set Up Technician (Injection molding)

Department: Molding

Reports To: Molding Shift Supervisor

FLSA Type: Non-Exempt or Exempt

  1. GENERAL FUNCTION

Support shift as needed to meet the production schedule, quality, safety, and organization by monitoring machine efficiency, assist with mold, color, or equipment changes and take necessary action to correct potential and existing roadblocks.

  1. JOB REQUIREMENTS

  1. Set up machines according to production plans by following production procedures and quality procedures.
  2.  Set up the entire production area as required.
  3. Attach all auxiliary equipment to molds and machines as required.
  4. Must be able to learn and operate the overhead crane, forklift, and use set-up tools.
  5. Ensure quality parts for every start-up by working with the quality control department.
  6. Start molding machines according to set-up condition sheets and any special instructions.
  7. Assist in troubleshooting and repairing day-to-day molding problems such as repairing leaking mold fittings, cleaning molds, replacing SSD and load cell cables, repairing machines and chutes, and installing mold curtains, etc.
  8. Must be able to troubleshoot and solve any set-up problems that are encountered.
  9. Minor duties include:  operate machines, mix material, secondary production (assembly), as directed by the shift supervisor.
  1. QUALIFICATIONS
    1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  1. PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES
    1. Must be able to obtain and certified in crane and forklift operation.
    2. Able to perform mold setup functions.
    3. Capable to use basic measuring tools such as Calipers and Micrometers.
    4. Basic mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical knowledge a strong plus.
    5. Must be able to stand/walk greater than 7.5 hours a day.
    6. Must be able to lift 60lbs.
    7. Must be able to lift, bend, stoop push and pull frequently.
    8. Must be able to wear safety shoes.
    9. Must be able to wear a hard hat, dusk mask, and ear plugs.
    10. Must be able to wear safety glasses.
    11. Must be able to read, speak, and write English
