Job Title: Clinical Workforce Development Program Coordinator

Work Schedule for this Position: Monday-Friday 8am - 5 pm

Position Overview:

The Clinical Workforce Development Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining Pullman Regional Hospital's career development programs across multiple clinical disciplines. This role supports the hospital's strategic goal to "Grow Our Own" healthcare workforce by coordinating structured education pathways, mentorship programs, and academic partnerships for both current employees and students entering healthcare professions.

Working collaboratively with department leaders, human resources, and academic institutions, the Clinical Workforce Development Program Coordinator ensures each program is compliant with regulatory standards, educationally sound, and aligned with Pullman Regional Hospital's values of Trust, Teamwork, and Transparency.

Essential Functions:

Program Development and Oversight

  • Serve as program owner for all internal and partnered career development programs, including:
    • Respiratory Therapist Development Program
  • Surgical Technologist Development Program
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to Registered Nurse (RN) Pathway
  • X-Ray Technologist to Specialty Imaging Technologist (CT, MRI, Mammography, Ultrasound, Echo)
  • Medical Assistant (MA) Development Program
  • EKG/EEG Technician Program
  • WSU Rural Nursing Pathway (clinical placement partnership)
  • Additional programs of the future
  • Identify regional schools that are interested in participating in work development programs.
  • Design and maintain program curricula, as needed.
  • Ensure program participants are familiar with their program curriculum, competency frameworks, and evaluation tools in collaboration with department leaders and educators.
  • Develop and maintain orientation, training, and competency validation materials for all programs.
  • Coordinate student schedules, clinical placements, and preceptor assignments in partnership with HR and department leadership.
  • Ensure all programs align with applicable licensure, certification, and accreditation standards (e.g., CoARC, ARRT, NBRC, WA DOH, DNV).
  • Provide instructions and support to program participants on how to enroll in licensure exams and apply for WA licensure.
  • Track participant progress, performance, and outcomes using established evaluation metrics (completion rates, licensure pass rates, retention, return on investment).

Academic & Community Partnerships

  • Leverage academic partnerships to promote student participation in PRH's career development programs.
  • Serve as liaison between Pullman Regional Hospital and educational partners, including Washington State University (WSU), Lewis-Clark State College, and other regional colleges, and accredited allied health programs.

  • Coordinate contracts, affiliation agreements, and compliance documentation for student placements.

  • Lead discussions regarding Pullman Regional Hospital's participation in the WSU Rural Nursing Pathway, evaluating feasibility, resource needs, and alignment with organizational goals.

Mentorship, Education, and Staff Support

  • Support preceptor development and recognition across clinical departments.
  • Facilitate study sessions, workshops, and simulation learning opportunities in collaboration with the Education Program Manager and department educators.
  • Maintain current knowledge of healthcare education trends, licensure changes, and "grow-your-own" program best practices.
  • Research and provide options of study guides, books, online modules, and licensure exam prep for program participants.
  • Develop a regular check-in schedule with preceptors to provide guidance, problem-solving, and support as needed.

Data, Reporting, and Continuous Improvement

  • Collect and analyze data on program performance (pass rates, retention, financial impact).
  • Prepare quarterly and annual reports for the Education Department, CNO, and Strategic Planning Committee.
  • Recommend program improvements based on participant feedback and outcomes.
  • Contribute to the hospital's Quality Management System (QMS) through documentation, evaluation, and continuous process improvement.

Required Education, Licensure, Certifications, and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in the Science of Nursing, Allied Health, or Healthcare Education.
  • Current Washington State RN license or equivalent allied health credential.
  • Minimum of three years of clinical experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in staff development, clinical education, or program coordination.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Education, Certifications, and Experience:

  • A master's degree in the Science of Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Healthcare Education, or related field.
  • Experience developing or leading workforce pipeline or internship programs.
  • Familiarity with DNV, Baldrige, or Lean Six Sigma improvement methodologies.
  • Experience partnering with academic institutions in healthcare education.

Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting: 50%. Standing/Walking: 50%.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying of supplies and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasional climbing of stairs to reach other levels of the building.
  • Occasional stooping/kneeling to reach items on low shelves and to get into low cabinets.
  • Occasional reaching/handling to complete paperwork.
  • Frequent fingering to operate phones and computers.
  • Constant talking/hearing/seeing to interact with customers and colleagues.

Environmental Conditions:

  • Location: Inside.
  • Minimal risk of injury due to proximity of moving parts on computer, printer, and copier.
  • Minimal exposure to biohazardous materials.
  • Minimal exposure to drafts.

  • Office and clinical setting environment.

Travel Requirements:

Occasional travel for school partnership meetings, conferences, or recruitment activities.
