Job Description:
Meade Engineering is seeking an experienced Director of Project Management to lead project teams and personally manage key projects within our full service engineering practice. This unique player-coach role combines portfolio-level leadership with hands-on project execution. Directors will oversee a team of Project Managers, provide mentorship and accountability, and also serve as the primary lead on their own assigned projects.
The ideal candidate is a strong project leader who thrives on developing people, delivering exceptional client outcomes, and ensuring projects are executed with precision, efficiency, and quality.
Job Duties:
- Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and coach a team of Project Managers, ensuring professional growth, effective workload distribution, and consistent application of project management best practices.
- Oversee the project portfolio within your group, ensuring alignment with company goals, client expectations, and resource availability.
- Set performance standards, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance management for your team.
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the project management function.
Direct Project Management
- Personally manage a portfolio of assigned projects, serving as the primary point of contact for clients and ensuring successful delivery from kickoff through closeout.
- Develop project schedules, budgets, and scopes of work, ensuring alignment with client needs and firm resources.
- Coordinate closely with internal engineering disciplines and external contractors to keep projects on track and within budget.
- Identify and resolve project risks, conflicts, or scope changes proactively.
- Lead project meetings and provide regular updates to clients and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and company quality requirements.
Strategic & Operational Responsibilities
- Collaborate with senior leadership to refine project management methodologies, tools, and reporting standards.
- Partner with business development teams to support project proposals, scope definition, and client presentations.
- Provide portfolio-level reporting on schedule, budget, profitability, and resource utilization.
- Support firm-wide initiatives related to growth, operational efficiency, and client satisfaction.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive project management experience in engineering, construction, or technical services, including prior management of people or teams.
- Proven ability to lead both individual projects and teams of Project Managers.
- Strong expertise in MEP systems or complex building projects.
- Skilled in budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and contract administration.
- Proficiency with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Procore, or equivalent).
- Strong leadership, communication, and client-facing skills.
- PMP, CCM, or equivalent professional certification strongly preferred.
