Job Title: Commercial Services Counsel

Location: Troy, MI

About Us: We are a leading title agency committed to providing best-in-class title services. We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Commercial Services Counsel to join our team in Troy, MI. This role is crucial in overseeing our commercial team and ensuring the highest standards of service and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Commercial Closing Leader (75%):

  • Oversee best practices within the commercial team.
  • Prepare for and close commercial transactions.
  • Provide title services in accordance with industry standards and underwriter requirements.
  • Monitor client communications to ensure timely responses and task completion.
  • Apply title principles effectively when addressing questions and escalations.
  • Manage risks and respond to client inquiries promptly.
  • Develop and implement best practices for closings and title services.
  • Serve as a liaison between underwriters and the agency.
  • Train others as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to achieve business objectives.
  • Ensure timely delivery of title commitments and policies.

Business Builder for Title Agency (15%):

  • Create revenue streams in line with budget and business plans.
  • Develop client relationships and strategies to increase revenue.
  • Collaborate with senior executives on business development strategies.
  • Support marketing efforts and identify new business opportunities.
  • Enhance the agency's reputation as a top title service provider in Michigan.
  • Attend community and marketing events to achieve revenue targets.

Commercial Title Group Leader/SME (10%):

  • Manage the Michigan commercial division according to established plans.
  • Set goals for direct reports to ensure timely and high-quality service.
  • Provide advice and counsel to staff as needed.
  • Stay updated on agency and underwriting requirements and establish compliant processes.
  • Research and review legal and underwriting concepts to enhance knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in commercial title services and transaction management.
  • Strong understanding of industry standards and underwriter requirements.
  • Excellent communication and client management skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement best practices.
  • Leadership experience and ability to manage a team.
  • Business development skills and experience in creating revenue streams.
  • Familiarity with legal and underwriting concepts.
