Senior Accountant

Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to lead our accounting operations in a dynamic government contracting environment. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of federal contracting regulations, including FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation), DCAA compliance, and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS). This role is responsible for overseeing the company�s accounting functions, ensuring compliance with government contract requirements, and supporting strategic financial planning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and billing.
• Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closings, financial reporting, and account reconciliations.
• Oversee contract accounting and billing in accordance with FAR, CAS, and DCAA regulations.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements.
• Coordinate and support government audits, including DCAA incurred cost submissions and provisional billing rate proposals.
• Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
• Supervise and mentor a team of accountants and accounting staff.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support leadership decisions.
• Collaborate with Program Managers and Contracts to ensure proper financial tracking of contracts, modifications, and funding.
• Work in collaboration with HR department to perform insurance audits.
• Support the implementation and optimization of accounting and ERP systems (e.g. Deltek Costpoint).

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor�s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• A minimum of seven (7) years of accounting experience, with a minimum of three (3) years in a government contracting environment.
• Strong understanding of government contracting regulations (e.g. FAR, CAS, DCAA).
• Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Hands-on experience with DCAA audits and submissions.
• Experience with accounting systems used in GovCon environments (e.g. Deltek).
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Active Secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• MBA degree.
• Certified Public Accountant.
• Experience managing indirect rate structures and cost pools.
• Familiarity with timekeeping systems and labor distribution in GovCon settings.
