The Audit and Assurance Associate is an entry-level position in the audit department and a valuable opportunity for individuals aspiring to pursue a career in auditing and assurance. The position is responsible for assisting in the execution of audit engagements while gaining practical experience in auditing standards and procedures, developing technical skills, and contributing to the overall success of audit engagements under guidance.

This role involves collaborating closely with senior auditors and supervisors to conduct financial audits, assess internal controls, and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

Audit Procedures:

  • Assist in the planning and execution of audit engagements under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Perform substantive testing, analytical procedures, and other audit procedures to verify the accuracy of financial information.
  • Document audit evidence and workpapers in accordance with established standards.

Internal Control Assessment:

  • Evaluate and test internal controls to ensure they are designed and operate effectively.
  • Identify control deficiencies and communicate findings to senior team members.
  • Participate in discussions about improving internal control processes.

Data Analysis:

  • Utilize data analytics tools to extract and analyze financial data for anomalies or trends.
  • Assist in developing and implementing data-driven audit procedures.
  • Contribute to the identification of key data sources for audit testing.

Client Interaction:

  • Interact with client personnel to gather information, understand business processes, and address inquiries.
  • Maintain a professional and positive relationship with clients during audit fieldwork.
  • Communicate audit findings and recommendations to clients under supervision.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Prepare clear and concise documentation of audit procedures performed and results obtained.
  • Assist in the preparation of draft audit reports and findings.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of audit documentation.

Professional Development:

  • Participate in training sessions and professional development programs to enhance technical skills.
  • Stay informed about changes in auditing standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Work towards obtaining professional certifications such as the Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

Skills/Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial concepts.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Detail-oriented, able to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in using auditing software.
