We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and creative individual to join our team as a Part-Time Enrichment Specialist for Older Adults. In this role, you will help create and facilitate engaging activities and support programs aimed at improving the social, emotional, and mental well-being of older adults. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with older populations and experience in creating meaningful, accessible programs that promote inclusivity, and connection.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and Implement Programs: Design and facilitate social, educational, and recreational programs tailored to the interests, abilities, and needs of older adults.
- Engagement and Outreach: Build rapport with older adults and their families to encourage engagement.
- One-on-One Engagement: Offer individual support and companionship to seniors, helping them connect with what's important (meaningful) to them and stay mentally and emotionally engaged.
- Monitor Progress: Track the success of engagement efforts, adjusting activities based on feedback and the evolving needs of participants.
- Collaborate: Work with other staff members, caregivers (care partners/family), and volunteers to coordinate and enhance engagement efforts.
- Maintain Records: Keep accurate records of participant engagement, preferences, and feedback for reporting purposes and future program improvements.
Qualifications
- Experience working with older adults, either professionally or through lived experience, is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build meaningful relationships with older adults.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to create and implement engaging, accessible activities that cater to a variety of interests and abilities.
- Empathy and patience in working with individuals who may have varying cognitive or physical limitations.
- Creative problem-solving skills to address challenges that may arise.
- A passion for community-building and improving the quality of life for older adults.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Ability to travel to community locations - car and good driving record
- Background check required
