Lifecycle Marketing Technologist

SoundCloud is looking for a technically-skilled Lifecycle Marketing Technologist to join our Lifecycle team and drive our automated notification strategy. In this role, you'll be instrumental in creating highly personalized, data-driven notification campaigns that increase Monthly Active Users (MAU) and drive Fan and Creator subscription growth.
You'll work at the intersection of marketing, data, and engineering—partnering closely with our Data and Recommendation Engineering teams to build sophisticated, automated lifecycle programs that engage our global community of creators and listeners.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Director of Lifecycle to develop and execute a comprehensive automated notification strategy with a focus on increasing MAU and subscription conversionsIdentify opportunities for personalized engagement by analyzing user behavior, cohort performance, and lifecycle stage transitionsPartner with Product teams to understand feature launches and product gaps to translate them into targeted notification campaignsBuild, test, and optimize automated notification campaigns using CRM platforms (Braze, Marketo, MoEngage)Write templating logic using Liquid, Jinja, or similar languages to create dynamic, personalized messaging experiencesQuery and analyze data in BigQuery to segment audiences, measure campaign performance, and extract actionable insightsDesign and implement A/B tests to continuously improve notification performance across channels (push, email, in-app)Work closely with Data and Recommendation Engineering teams to request features, integrations, and data supportCollaborate with the data analysts and technical specialists to implement sophisticated campaign analysis mechanics and dashboardsBuild strong relationships with stakeholders across Product, Engineering, and Analytics to identify growth opportunitiesMonitor and report on key metrics including MAU, subscription conversions, retention rates, engagement rates, and overall lifecycle healthConduct deep-dive analyses to understand campaign effectiveness and user behavior patternsTranslate complex data findings into clear recommendations and actionable strategiesExperience and Background:
5+ years of experience in lifecycle marketing, growth marketing, marketing technology, or similar role at a consumer subscription businessStrong proficiency in SQL and experience querying large datasets (BigQuery experience strongly preferred)Hands-on experience with marketing automation and CRM platforms such as Braze, Marketo, or MoEngageAbility to write templating code (Liquid, Jinja, or similar) for dynamic content personalizationDemonstrated ability to analyze campaign performance and translate data into strategic recommendationsExperience developing automated, trigger-based notification strategiesExperience with Kafka or event-streaming architecturesBackground in subscription-based businesses or consumer technologyFamiliarity with recommendation systems or personalization enginesExperience with SatSig or similar product testing and experimentation toolsYou're constantly asking questions, digging into data, and seeking to understand user behavior and product opportunitiesYou build strong relationships across teams and work effectively with both technical and non-technical partnersYou can design rigorous tests, interpret complex data, and communicate findings clearly to diverse audiencesYou identify opportunities independently and drive initiatives forwardThe salary range for this role is $80,000 - $135,000 annually. The final salary offered will be determined based on relative experience, skills, internal equity, and location.
