Position Summary

Responsible to diagnose, adjust, repair, maintain, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, gas, diesel, and pneumatic equipment used in construction, such as skid steers, curb machine, dump trucks, loaders, small engines and small tools & accessories.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and inspect machines or equipment to diagnose defects.
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices.
  • Dismantle and reassemble equipment using hoists and hand tools.
  • Examine parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges.
  • Repair and replace damaged or worn parts.
  • Provide own tools, testing/diagnostic equipment, calibration devices, and
  • Change engine oil in fleet pickups and rotate & inspect tires.
  • Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturer's specifications.
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment, trailers, and vehicles.
  • Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Open/close work orders, approve invoices and time on in-house software.
  • Maintain maintenance logs on all fleet equipment.
  • Assist in coordination of internal and externally rented equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly working area, to include the entire shop and yard.
  • Snow removal and de-icing for AB property, by operating plow truck, shoveling and salting as needed.
  • Familiar with skid steers, curb & gutter machine, loaders, packers, small equipment, telehandler, forklift etc.

Environmental Conditions

  • Exposure to extreme weather conditions; heat, cold, humid, wet for extended periods of time.
  • Variance to noise intensity – quiet to loud.
  • Exposure to dust and fumes.

Physical Demands

  • Walking and standing on all types of surfaces – indoor and outdoor.
  • On feet for extended periods of time, up to 12-hour shifts.
  • Stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, climbing, crawling, balancing, pushing.
  • Manual dexterity to include, but not limited to, pinching, grasping, grabbing, holding.
  • Frequently moving and carrying items weighing 100 pounds with and without assistance.
  • Hand/eye coordination, close-up vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Good hearing to hear back up alarms/other noises suggesting danger.
