Your role

Director of Nursing (DON) PMHNP

This position provides clinical leadership, operational oversight, and administrative direction for Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs) delivering telepsychiatric care, including prescribing and psychotherapy services. This role ensures the highest standards of clinical practice, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency while fostering a collaborative, patient-centered care environment. The DON will work closely with medical, clinical, and administrative leadership to support growth, quality improvement, and workforce development. The DON will have a slightly lower patient load and spend a larger percentage of their time focused on administrative responsibilities. This mix will change over time with the needs and scale of the practice.

Your day-to-day expectations

Clinical Leadership and Supervision

  • Provide direct clinical supervision and mentorship to PMHNPs, ensuring adherence to evidence-based psychiatric and psychotherapeutic practices.
  • Review and monitor clinical documentation, prescribing patterns, and therapy interventions for quality, safety, and compliance.
  • Oversee initial onboarding, clinical orientation, and ongoing competency assessments for all nursing providers.
  • Ensure adherence to scope-of-practice regulations, telehealth best practices, and company clinical protocols.
  • Ramp to 40-50% patient care caseload weekly
  • Oversees Clinical Navigation Team

Administrative and Operation Management

  • Develop, implement, and refine workflows to optimize provider productivity, patient satisfaction, and quality outcomes to achieve the practice goals.
  • Manage provider scheduling, caseload distribution, and performance metrics.
  • Oversee regulatory compliance, including state licensure, DEA registration, HIPAA, and telehealth-specific laws.
  • Partner with the Quality & Compliance team to prepare for audits, maintain policy adherence, and resolve any corrective actions.
  • Participate in strategic planning, budget development, and resource allocation to support service expansion.

Training and Professional Development

  • Lead continuing education initiatives, case conferences, and clinical training programs for PMHNPs.
  • Stay current with psychiatric and psychotherapy best practices, incorporating updates
  • into provider education.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning, clinical excellence, and professional growth.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and care coordination teams to ensure integrated, holistic patient care.
  • Serve as a liaison between nursing staff and senior leadership, representing provider perspectives in decision-making.
  • Support partnerships with external healthcare organizations, payors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Advance Televero's "Two in a box" approach to scaling, collaborate with the other DON to accelerate our practice growth.

Your workday

This position is 100% virtual.

We are open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm CST, Monday through Sunday.

This position is full-time, 40 hours per week.

This role reports to Televero's Chief Medical Officer.

Experience to thrive

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work or related field.
  • Completion of CCNE-accredited Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) specialization.
  • Active, unrestricted RN and APRN License in multiple states including Texas.
  • Minimum 7 years' experience in psychopharmacology and psychotherapy, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.

  • Proven experience supervising a large team of advanced practice nurses who both presribe and deliver psychotherapy across multiple states.
  • Strong knowledge of telepsychiatry regulations, clinical documentation standards, and evidence-based practices.
  • Demonstrated administrative skills, including strategic planning, workflow optimization, and budget management.
  • Reliable internet connection and confident navigating technology – including Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, and Teams).
