THE OPPORTUNITY
As a full-stack engineer on The Desire Company's tech team, you'll build and maintain the tools that power our entire platform across multiple codebases.
You'll develop features for both internal users—supporting day-to-day operations, expert workflows, and our clients, which include major retailers and global brands who use our portal to access video assets, monitor project progress, and manage deliverables. You'll also contribute to our video player, QR, embed, analytics, and tracking features. As well as our video encoding and import pipeline, ensuring high-quality, efficient content delivery.
You'll gain hands-on experience in the fast-growing retail-media space while working closely with the Head of Engineering and our Project Managers to plan and execute sprints, ship high-quality features, and release frequently.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drive major product initiatives end-to-end, from planning and technical design through implementation, testing, and deployment.
- Build reliable, maintainable full-stack features across our internal tools, client portal, and video pipeline systems.
- Follow and contribute to engineering best practices, coding standards, code review, QA, and patterns that keep the codebase clean, consistent, and low-bug.
- Collaborate across engineering, and other internal teams to understand requirements and deliver practical, scalable solutions.
REQUIREMENTS
- 4+ years of experience writing production software, and building web applications. Including frontends and backends (particularly REST apis). Our stack includes NodeJS, NextJS, React (Typescript), SQL, and a dash of Python.
- Excellent knowledge of database architecture and SQL and using an ORM.
- Excellent grasp of AWS services. Lambda, RDS, ECS, EC2, S3, Amplify, etc.
- Experience with Terraform and Docker are a plus.
- Excellent and proactive communication, both verbal and written, good whiteboarding/flowchart skills are a plus.
- Familiar and experienced using Copilot or other AI code assist tools but you have years of actual real code writing experience.
