Under the general direction of the Environmental Program Manager I (Supervisory), the Senior Environmental Scientist (Specialist) acts as the scientific expert in the area of Ecotoxicology and non-target organism protection issues for a complex and environmentally sensitive statewide pesticide registration program that protects the State's natural resources and public health. Evaluates and assesses ecotoxicology studies submitted to support pesticide registration. Assists in establishing new non-target data requirements and evaluation policies, where needed. Determines the effectiveness of certain pesticide products and identifies the potential risks to nontarget organisms. Takes a lead and mentorship role within the Ecotoxicology program. Makes technical presentations and represents the Department at scientific meetings and hearings. Performs other duties as required by the Department.
