Lead Teacher – A Step by Step Learning Academy, Inc.

Job Overview

A Step by Step Learning Academy is seeking a dedicated and passionate Lead Teacher to join our team We are looking for an educator who loves working with children and is committed to creating a positive, nurturing, and stimulating classroom environment. As a Lead Teacher, you will plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate activities that support children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that encourage exploration and learning.
  • Provide high-quality care, ensuring the safety and well-being of all children at all times.
  • Engage children in hands-on, interactive learning experiences that promote creativity and curiosity.
  • Use positive behavior management strategies to guide and support children effectively.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and families regarding each child's progress and daily experiences.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to foster a cohesive, team-oriented atmosphere.
  • Stay current on best practices in early childhood education and comply with all DCFS standards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 30 semester hours (or 45 quarter hours) of college credit from an accredited institution, including 6 hours in child development or early childhood courses

or

An Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (required)

  • At least 1 year of experience in a licensed child care center setting
  • Strong understanding of child development principles and early education best practices
  • Knowledge of and adherence to Illinois DCFS Licensing Requirements
  • Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a professional teaching team
  • CPR and First Aid certification (preferred)
