Junior Litigation Attorney

Job Overview

We're looking for an organized, personable, and talented junior associate attorney to join the litigation department of our growing law firm. This position requires an active California license and 1-3 years of experience litigating in California courts. Knowledge of the Fair Employment and Housing Act, the California Labor Code, and common issues in contract litigation are a plus, but not required. Trial or deposition experience is a plus, but not required.

What You'll Do

· Assist in developing overall litigation strategy. You will review pleadings and case files, perform client and witness interviews, and synthesize this information into a winning case strategy.

· Take ownership of critical motions and briefing. You will draft motions, stipulations, trial briefs, mediation briefs that can make or break a case.

· Get real courtroom experience from day one. Unlike many firms where junior associates spend years doing document review, you'll be making court appearances, taking depositions, and representing clients in mediations in your first year.

· Run discovery strategy. You'll design and execute comprehensive discovery plans, not just respond to requests - taking the lead on uncovering the evidence that wins cases.

· Manage your own matters. You'll supervise support staff and coordinate with experts, giving you real management experience that accelerates your career development.

· Jump In Where Needed In a growing firm, priorities can shift quickly. We need someone who's comfortable stepping in to help with various projects, from assisting with basic IT issues to supporting special initiatives that help our practice grow.

What We're Looking For

· Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.

· Active California bar license.

· 1-3 years litigating in California courts.

· Excellent writing, research, and communications skills.

· Excellent interpersonal skills.

· Poise and an ability to think on your feet.

· Familiarity with the Fair Employment and Housing Act, California Labor Code, and contract litigation is a plus, but not required.

· Trial or deposition experience is a plus, but not required.

· Mandarin language proficiency is a plus, but not required.

Experience & Education

· Juris Doctor from an accredited law school is required.

· Active California license is required.

· 1-3 years of litigation experience in California courts is required.

What We Offer

· Base salary of $115,000--$150,000+ depending on experience

· Minimum yearly billables of 1550

· Nondiscretionary bonus that depends on hours billed

· Discretionary bonus in addition to nondiscretionary bonus
