About the Role

 The primary purpose of the Rehabilitation Medicine Therapist Per Diem position is to provide diagnostic and therapeutic (Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy or Recreational Therapy) services to patients of all ages. The Therapist will evaluate referred patients, to implement and administer a comprehensive therapeutic intervention to restore and maximize function, to relieve or reduce pain, and to prevent disability following disease or injury.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do

  • Provides patient-centered care by fostering a friendly, welcoming, and safe environment; communicates clearly, responds promptly to concerns, and consistently meets or exceeds patient and family expectations.

  • Collaborates effectively with the multidisciplinary team (including physicians, nurses, and case managers) to ensure coordinated, high-quality care.

  • Conducts comprehensive evaluations, including history, system reviews, and specific tests to establish diagnoses, prognoses, and functional goals.

  • Designs, implements, and regularly updates individualized plans of care, incorporating patient/family education and coordination with other services.

  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation of evaluations, treatments, and progress per departmental and professional guidelines.

  • Provides clinical guidance and oversight to physical therapist assistants and rehabilitation aides.

  • Demonstrates professionalism, effective time management, and commitment to service excellence, ensuring customer service goals are met or exceeded.

  • Adheres to compliance standards, laws, and policies of University Hospital, staying informed of any changes, and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What You'll Bring

 

Required:

  • Graduate from either an accredited Physical Therapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT), Speech Language Pathology (SLP) or Therapeutic Recreational (TR) program. Candidates that are near completion of the degree requirements will be considered.
  • Licensed in the State of New Jersey in the area of specialty (PT, OT, or SLP), or certified as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialistor obtain within twelve (12) months of employment; BLS for the Healthcare Provider or obtain within six (6) months of employment.
  • Primary source verification: PT/OT/SLP: NJ State Board of Consumer Affairs; Therapeutic Recreation: National Council for Therapeutic Certification; BLS: American Heart Association; University Hospital's designated Background Check Company

Compensation (NJ Job Transparency Law)

In compliance with New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is $55.00
