Schedule: Full-Time, Wednesday–Sunday with rotating coverage Monday–Tuesday

Pay: Starting between $20 & $23 per hour

About the Job:

We are seeking professional and dependable Security Guards to join our team at the stunning Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve, working in partnership with the City & County of Honolulu, Department of Parks and Recreation.

You'll be on the front lines of guest safety, traffic flow, and site protection—helping maintain the beauty and safety of one of Oahu's most iconic locations.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and control vehicle and pedestrian traffic
  • Provide friendly visitor assistance and parking guidance
  • Observe and report any unusual incidents or safety concerns
  • Respond to emergencies (medical, fire, crowd control, etc.)
  • Set up and remove signage, cones, and barricades
  • Patrol assigned areas including entrance gates, parking lots, and beach lookouts
  • Ensure guests adhere to park policies
  • Work in coordination with Park Attendants and the Park Manager

Minimum Requirements:

  • Valid Hawaii Guard Card and compliance with HRS Chapter 463
  • Certification in NIMS ICS-100 & IS-700 (or ability to obtain prior to starting)
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate clearly in English
  • Physically able to stand/walk outdoors for long periods
  • Professional appearance and demeanor; complete uniform required at all times
  • Ability to follow post orders and respond calmly in emergencies
  • Must be punctual, reliable, and detail-oriented

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in outdoor or park security preferred
  • Familiarity with radio communications (walkie-talkies)
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills

Schedule Details:

  • Open Days (Wed–Sun): Up to 8 guards on-site
  • Closed Days (Mon–Tue & Holidays): 2 guards on-site
  • Shift start times range from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM, with coverage through 5:00 PM
