POSITION SUMMARY

The Communications Support Specialist is a key member of the District's communications team and is responsible for supporting the public relations initiatives of the District including conducting community outreach, maintaining digital platforms, developing taxpayer materials, working with external stakeholders, and tracking data and metrics throughout the agency. The Communication Support Specialist will support the Chief Strategy Officer in coordinating the District's communications efforts. The Communications Support Specialist plays a critical role in helping the District ensure that Travis County taxpayers can navigate the property tax system. Essential duties require presence in the workplace on a regular basis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

· Identifies, develops, and distributes educational information about the property tax system

· Works in collaboration with Travis County community groups to develop, promote, and staff community outreach events

· Tracks data points to evaluate the taxpayer experience and the effectiveness of strategic initiatives

· Researches, develops, and edits documents and promotional materials, including press releases, scripts, newsletters, presentations, informational flyers, videos, and reports

· Helps maintain the District's digital assets, including website and social media channels

· Gathers and organizes visual assets for use on the District's website, social media, and in educational campaigns

· Develops and supports internal and external email marketing campaigns

· Provides support for special events and administrative tasks

· Maintains current knowledge of new and revised tax laws and property tax code

· Performs other tasks and assignments as may be assigned from time to time

· All duties are performed independently and require self-motivation and a professional attitude in the work environment.

REQUIREMENTS/ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

· Must be authorized to work in the US.

· Must be available to work occasional evenings and weekends when needed

· Continuing education — Stay current on the latest developments in communications and public relations, including laws, regulations, technology, and advancements, and apply the knowledge in the work environment.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

· Possession of a high school degree; bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Communications, Public Relations, Graphic Design, or related field preferred

· Minimum of four (4) years of experience in public relations, communications, marketing and/or community outreach

· Experience with the property tax system and customer service is a plus

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

· Knowledge of appraisal practice and procedures

· Proficient in Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Canva, Wordpress, social media platforms

· Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing

· Ability to work independently and collaborate with your team to solve complex issues

· Ability to assess information, ask questions, make decisions, manage time effectively, and execute assignments

· Spanish-language fluency is a plus

· Ability to recognize confidential information and protect it

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

Ability to sit, stand, walk, and climb stairs, with occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. Requires excellent concentration and time management to work effectively in a high-demand environment. Occasional travel and attendance at offsite meetings or events may be required. Job is not subject to significant occupational or environmental hazards.
