About the Role:

The Dietary Aide plays a crucial role in supporting the nutritional and dietary needs of residents within a manufacturing-related assisted living environment. This position ensures that meals are prepared, served, and delivered in accordance with established dietary guidelines and infection control standards. The Dietary Aide collaborates closely with the dietary team and other staff members to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming dining environment. Attention to detail and adherence to both written and oral instructions are essential to meet the individualized dietary requirements of residents. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to the overall well-being and satisfaction of those served by providing consistent, compassionate, and efficient food service support.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of food service and infection control practices.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions accurately.
  • Demonstrated patience and ability to relate positively with residents and team members.
  • Capability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in assisted living or healthcare food service settings.
  • Certification in food safety or dietary aide training.
  • Familiarity with specialized dietary needs and restrictions.
  • Strong communication skills to enhance teamwork and resident interaction.
  • Ability to adapt to changing dietary guidelines and facility policies.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and serving of meals according to prescribed dietary plans and safety standards.
  • Follow all written and oral instructions related to food handling, portion control, and sanitation procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, dining areas, and equipment to comply with infection control protocols.
  • Work collaboratively with the dietary team and other staff members to ensure timely and accurate meal delivery.
  • Provide courteous and positive interaction with residents, responding to their needs and preferences with patience and respect.

Skills:

The required skills such as patience and the ability to follow both written and oral instructions are essential for ensuring that dietary plans are executed accurately and residents receive appropriate meals. Working as a team member and relating positively to others fosters a collaborative environment that enhances service quality and resident satisfaction. Infection control knowledge is applied daily to maintain hygiene standards and prevent contamination, which is critical in a food service setting. The preferred skills, including experience in assisted living and food safety certification, further support the Dietary Aide in managing specialized dietary needs and adhering to regulatory requirements. Together, these skills enable the Dietary Aide to perform their duties efficiently while contributing to a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all residents.
