Role Description
The primary role of the Medical Scribe is to accompany providers in clinic and document patient encounters in real time within the electronic medical record (EMR). You will accurately capture histories, physical exam findings, assessments, and plans as dictated or discussed by the provider so they can stay focused on the patient.
The secondary role involves medical records management, including retrieving outside records and handling release-of-information requests. You'll help keep charts complete, organized, and up to date so the care team always has what they need.
Key Responsibilities include:
Accompanying providers in exam rooms and documenting patient visits in real time in the EMR
Accurately entering patient histories, review of systems, physical exam findings, and treatment plans
Transcribing medical terminology and following provider instructions closely
Managing medical records: requesting, receiving, scanning, and organizing records
Processing and sending release-of-information (ROI) requests while maintaining strict confidentiality
Sending medication refills as directed by the provider and per clinic protocols
Sending out medical records (fax, secure email, EMR system) in a timely manner
Assisting with other administrative and clerical tasks to support smooth clinic flow
Maintaining HIPAA compliance and protecting patient privacy at all times
Collaborating with providers, nursing staff, and front office staff to provide excellent patient care
Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
No regular weekend or evening hours

Qualifications
Strong typing skills with the ability to type quickly and accurately while following a physician
Proficiency in scribing and accurate documentation or a strong desire to learn with appropriate training
Solid knowledge of medical terminology; basic understanding of human anatomy
Experience or skills in medical assisting, medical office work, or similar clinical setting is a plus
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred, to better serve our patient population
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment and adapt to changing priorities
Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR/EMR) systems is advantageous
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in healthcare or medical fields (e.g., CMA, pre-med, pre-nursing, health sciences) is a plus
High level of professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail
Commitment to confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $ $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
