Status: Part-time, Non-Exempt

Location: Worcester, MA

Swim Instructors at British Swim School (Worcester) teach swim lessons to children and adults to become safe and happy swimmers, regardless of age or ability. Adherence to British Swim School teaching curriculum ensures that each student in our program learns water survival skills and then progresses to propulsion and stroke development in a fun and gentle environment. We are searching for candidates that are great with kids, comfortable in the water and passionate about teaching them We provide ongoing training

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Enthusiastic, assertive personality with strong relationship and customer service skills.
  • Effectively communicates with customers and employees, bilingual is a plus.
  • Disciplined to follow schedules and enforce safety procedures as well as follow policies, teaching methods and procedures of British Swim School.
  • Experience in managing student behavior in a structured environment
  • Previous experience as a swim instructor or in a related role
  • A strong background in water safety/survival skills
  • Strong swimming skills and knowledge of various swim strokes and techniques
  • Ability to demonstrate swim strokes appropriately
  • An understanding of a variety of instructional methods and teaching techniques

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support the Aquatics Leader and/or Business Owner(s)
  • Follow British Swim Schools curriculum to ensure safe and competent lessons and environment.
  • Work evenings (3:30pm-7:30pm), weekends (8am- 12pm), and holidays as required by business needs.
  • Maintain certifications throughout employment.
  • Work in an environment where noise levels are usually moderate to high and stand in the water for up to 5 consecutive hours.

Qualifications

  • Lifeguard, CPR, AED and First Aid Certified (current preferred or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment).
  • Aquatics history and/or stroke development knowledge
  • Successful completion of British Swim School Swim Instructor training
  • Year-long commitment is a plus
