    Position Summary
    The Special Education MISTAR Data Entry Coordinator is responsible for the accurate entry, verification, and
    maintenance of all special education data within the district's MISTAR student information system. This position ensures
    compliance with state and federal reporting requirements by maintaining timely and precise data related to student
    enrollment, IEPs, assessments, accommodations, and program exits. This position is strictly focused on data entry and
    compliance functions; it does not include clerical or secretarial duties.
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties as assigned)
    1. MISTAR Data Entry and Maintenance
    o Input, verify, and update all special education student information in MISTAR, including new
    enrollments, program exits, and annual roll-over updates.
    o Ensure student records are accurate and aligned with current Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
    and eligibility status.

    2. Assessment Accommodations and Modification Entry
    o Enter testing accommodations and modifications for students participating in state and national
    assessments (M-STEP, MI-Access, PSAT, SAT, ACT, and College Board assessments).
    o Verify that accommodations align with each student's IEP or 504 Plan.
    3. IEP and MET Data Management
    o Input all completed IEPs, amendments, and Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) determinations
    dates into MISTAR.
    o Maintain accurate program and service codes in accordance with Michigan Administrative Rules for
    Special Education (MARSE) and IDEA requirements.

    4. IEP Timeline Monitoring
    o Generate and distribute monthly reports identifying upcoming and overdue IEPs and MET reviews.
    o Notify case managers and building administrators of required actions to maintain compliance.
    5. New Enrollment Processing
    o Input data for newly enrolled students who receive special education services.
    o Verify eligibility categories, placement settings, and service details with the Director of Specialized
    Student Services or designated staff.
    6. MSDS Data Validation Support
    o Collaborate with the Pupil Accountant to review and correct MSDS validation errors related to special
    education data.
    o Ensure timely correction and resubmission of data to maintain state reporting accuracy.
    7. Annual Roll-Over and Student Transition
    o Support the annual roll-over process by promoting students to new grade levels and updating instructional
    codes, case manager assignments, and service providers.
    o Remove graduated or exited students from active rosters and archive records appropriately.
    8. Data Integrity and Compliance Audits
    o Regularly audit MISTAR data for completeness and accuracy.
    o Generate compliance and verification reports for district and Wayne RESA reviews.
    9. Confidentiality and Data Security
    o Maintain strict confidentiality of student information in compliance with FERPA and district policies.
    o Ensure secure handling of all student data, both digital and physical.
    10. Collaboration and Reporting

    Work collaboratively with special education case managers, building administrators, and district staff to ensure
    data accuracy and compliance with all reporting deadlines.

    Qualifications
     Bachelor's degree.
    Minimum experience in student data management, preferably within a school district.
     Knowledge with the MISTAR Student Information System or comparable SIS platform required.
    Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE).
    Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
    Ability to meet strict timelines and manage multiple data tasks concurrently.
     Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Google Workspace tools.

    Working Conditions
    Full-time, 11-month position (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM).
     Primarily office-based with minimal travel between district locations.
    Occasional extended hours during state reporting and rollover periods may be required.
