The City of Geneva is seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our team as a Records Specialist at the Geneva Police Department. As a Records Specialist, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining vital records as well as providing customer service to residents and visitors in-person and over-the-phone.

This is a part-time position that works two, eight-hour shifts from 11:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. (overnight) on Saturdays and Sundays.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about serving the community and supporting our police department.

Duties:

  • Enters and maintains data including case reports, accident reports, tickets, complaints, arrest warrants, etc.;
  • Answers incoming telephone calls and walk-ins requesting police services of an emergency and non-emergency nature;
  • Accepts payments for bail bonds, parking tickets, accident reports, parking permits and boat ramp stickers;
  • Performs general office duties such as sorting mail, copying, faxing and filing;
  • Balances the cash register;
  • Monitors prisoners and police officers to ensure prisoner and officer safety and performs searches of same-sex prisoners and checks on them periodically;
  • Assists officers, Public Works and Emergency Services and Disaster Agency (ESDA) personnel through phone and radio contact;
  • Activates tones, transmits severe weather statements and sounds the siren when needed as bad weather approaches;
  • Receives calls from the public after close of business for Public Works Department (water, electric and streets) for issues and call outs.

Requirements:

  • The ability to work independently within a team environment
  • Computer and customer service skills
