Columbus House opened its doors in 1982 to provide services for men and women at least 18 years of age. Our goals quickly broadened from the mere provision of food and shelter and simple survival, to understanding and working toward overcoming the problems which cause people to become homeless.

We advocate for and create affordable housing to end homelessness in our communities."
Purpose
Under the direction of the Chief Human Resources Officer, the Human Resources Generalist contributes to the implementation of HR services, policies, and procedures and assists agency management with HR related issues. The HR Generalist supports human resources processes in a wide array of capacities across the entire domain of the human resource function.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Submits employee data reports by assembling, preparing, and analyzing data as requested by supervisor
- Performs miscellaneous human resources related research
- Assists in agency communications by the updating and maintenance of the payroll platform prime information "splash" page
- Conducts new employee orientation meetings as directed
- Helps maintain personnel files
- May provide payroll back up the Senior Human Resources Manager
- May act as HRIS back up to the Senior Human Resources Manager
- May act as Relias training platform administrator backup to the HR Specialist
- Acts as witness and note taker to and for CHRO in sensitive employee meetings if needed
- Helps to maintain agency compliance with all applicable employment laws through a variety of tasks
- Attends educational and training events to maintain and develop knowledge and skills
- Performs administrative and personnel related record keeping and electronic filing functions
- Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Three years' experience of increasingly responsible technical or administrative work in personnel administration or human resources related activities
- Excellent organizational, time management and reporting skills
- Strong computer skills with an emphasis on proficiency with Excel
- Well-developed interpersonal skills suited to a culturally competent work environment
- General knowledge of payroll and benefits administration
- General knowledge of employment laws such as FLSA, FMLA, ADA, ADEA, Workers Compensation, Unemployment etc.
- General knowledge of recruiting, interviewing and Affirmative Action obligations
- Self-starter, able to work independently
- Passion for mission and purpose-driven organization and an ability to communicate this passion to others
- Strong customer service skills with a willingness to work in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated commitment to the values of diversity, inclusiveness and empowerment
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Responsible and reliable, able to conduct oneself in a professional manner
- Respectful of appropriate boundaries and committed to the dictates of confidentiality
- Valid drivers' license with a good driving history

Schedule
: 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday
Salary range:
$ $28.00
