Job Overview

We are seeking an Experienced Veterinary Assistant / Technician to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and a solid background (at least 2 years) in veterinary practices. This role involves providing high-quality care to our patients and supporting veterinarians in various tasks. The successful applicant will demonstrate strong animal handling skills, knowledge of veterinary terminology, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring the comfort and safety of animals.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis.
  • Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient.
  • Prepare animals for surgery, including anesthesia monitoring and recovery care.
  • Provide education to pet owners regarding animal husbandry, nutrition, and preventive care.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including proper handling of instruments and supplies.
  • Utilize aseptic techniques during procedures to minimize infection risks.
  • Handle various species with confidence, including dogs and cats.
  • Additional tasks to be assigned by management as needed.

Experience

Candidates should possess the following skills and experience:

  • Previous veterinary experience or veterinary technician experience is required.
  • Familiarity with kennel operations and animal handling techniques.
  • Knowledge of dental terminology and procedures related to animal dental care.
  • Experience in veterinary critical care is highly desirable.
  • Laboratory experience with diagnostic testing is a plus.
  • Understanding of animal physiology, anatomy, and restraint techniques.
  • Skills in pet grooming, dog training, or equine experience are advantageous.
  • Proficiency in x-ray procedures is preferred but not mandatory.
