Overview

Technical Product Owner (TPO) will serve as a critical bridge between product management, stakeholders, and agile development teams. The TPO will ensure technical implementation aligns with overall business vision and strategy, guiding product development, managing technical aspects, and ensuring product features meet user needs and technical feasibility. This role requires a strong technical background, particularly in Enterprise Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence, and the ability to translate technical requirements into actionable development plans. The ideal candidate will act as a technical resource, address technical debt, and drive technical solutions that support business objectives.



Responsibilities

  • Product Vision & Strategy:
    Collaborate with Product Managers to define and translate product vision into actionable technical requirements and a long-term roadmap. Own and groom the technical backlog, prioritize features and functionalities based on technical constraints and dependencies, ensuring clarity and feasibility.
  • Communication & Collaboration:
    Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex technical concepts and facilitate collaboration across diverse teams and stakeholders. Build relationships, manage expectations, and negotiate priorities. Gather and interpret user feedback to deliver high-quality user experiences.
  • Problem-solving & Analytical Skills:
    Analyze complex technical issues, interpret data, assess risks, and propose effective solutions. Align technical initiatives with business goals and product vision.
  • Agile Methodologies:
    Exhibit deep knowledge and experience with Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban). Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives. Provide technical guidance and clarify requirements for development teams.
  • Backlog Management & Agile Execution:
    Create, prioritize, and maintain the technical product backlog to ensure alignment with business strategy and provide clear direction to development teams.
  • Technical Expertise & Guidance:
    Serve as a subject matter expert on Enterprise Data Warehouse methodologies, system architecture, T-SQL, ETL (SSIS), data pipelines, and BI reporting tools (Jira, Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, Tableau, Power BI, DOMO). Guide product roadmap execution, address technical debt, and ensure technical excellence.
  • Stakeholder Communication & Relationship Management:
    Communicate development progress, product vision, and technical considerations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior leadership. Build strong relationships and act as a trusted change agent.
  • Continuous Improvement & Innovation:
    Identify opportunities to improve processes, tools, and methodologies in requirements gathering, development, and delivery. Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to inform product decisions and drive innovation.
  • Leadership & Mentorship:
    Lead, mentor, motivate teams, foster a collaborative and innovative environment.
  • Domain Knowledge:
    Demonstrate expertise in the business domain supported by the BI Enterprise Data Warehouse team (e.g., Healthcare, Record Retrieval, Coding).
  • Special Projects:
    Complete all special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • General:
    Perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or substantial equivalent work experience.
  • At least 6-8 years of strong business analysis experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Enterprise Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence Reporting & Analytics, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality products.
  • At least 3 years of experience working in an agile environment.
  • Proficiency in BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, DOMO), SQL, SSIS, SSRS, data warehousing, and data modeling. Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python, R) is a plus.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.

  • Assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • No adverse environmental conditions are expected.
  • Must be able to provide a dedicated, secure work area.
  • Must be able to provide high-speed internet access/connectivity and office setup and maintenance.

Base compensation ranges from $90,000 to $124,000 per year. Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, education, skills, certifications, and other business needs.
