Job Description

Parks, Recreation and Tourism is seeking an individual with custodial experience who has a passion for customer service and providing quality work.

You will have the opportunity to shine with your top-notch custodial skills by servicing various City buildings, facilities, common and recreational areas in the housekeeping department with PRT.

The primary tasks of the Environmental Services Technician include:

  • Provides exceptional internal and external customer service, responds to service requests and inquires, as directed by supervisor that meets the expectations of the City's Customer Service Initiative.

  • Housekeeping duties: Cleans offices, bathrooms, kitchens, cabins, outdoor facilities and other areas as assigned. Vacuums, mops, strips and waxes floors. Dust surfaces, wash glass, glass surfaces, cleans and polish furniture and woodwork.

  • Custodian duties: Replaces items such as light bulbs, sanitary items, paper towels, and hand soap.

  • Mixes cleaning chemicals according to product specifications.

  • Collects trash and recyclables, delivers to appropriate place for pick up. Cleans and picks-up outside area and parking lots for trash and debris. Requires the ability to lift large filled trash bags for disposal.

  • Reports possible safety hazards and equipment malfunctions and damage to supervisor promptly.

  • Requires the ability to operate a variety of commercial custodial equipment such as but not limited to, floor buffers and scrubbers, backpack and wide area vacuums.

  • May be tasked with special custodial projects related to floor care, upholstery and other non-routine custodial services. May be required to perform deep cleaning and sanitizing operations using specialized equipment in response to pandemics or other communal diseases.

  • Maintains cleaning and paper product supplies, orders, picks up, and delivers supplies as needed.

  • Sets up rooms or facilities for special events. May be required to work during special events and programs, which may require flexibility in work schedules.

  • Will be required to work during City emergencies such as hurricanes, snow storms, and other natural or man-made disasters.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in housekeeping and/or custodial services.

Knowledge of APPA, custodial standard of operations and principle guidelines.

Quality customer service and communication skills.
