This role is primarily an ONSITE position.The Senior Data Analyst will work closely with Optimal Aging Institute faculty on high-impact research for the prediction, prevention, diagnosis, and management of age-related diseases.We are seeking a highly skilled and independent individual to support analytic activities and research on several epidemiologic studies, including:Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) cohort with over 35 years of detailed follow-up on >100,000 hospitalizations, detailed interviews, physiologic data, wearable devices, multi-omics and imaging;ACHIEVE clinical trial of hearing intervention and cognitive decline;Chronic Kidney Disease Prognosis Consortium (CKD-PC) which includes over 100 cohorts with data from over 30 million participants including EMR systems such as Optum; and,NYU Langone Health data.Job ResponsibilitiesThe Senior Data Analyst will work on study design, protocol development, data preparation, statistical analysis, data interpretation, and manuscript preparation. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong methodological expertise and:Develop, maintain and monitor new/existing databases, resolving database issues that may be complex, and optimizing performance for data extraction and analyses;Develop, communicate and carry out procedures designed to facilitate data analyses and interpretation;Engage in data checking, summary, and manipulation in consultation with data managers, principal investigators, and biostatisticians;Program statistical analyses, summarize results, conduct simulations, perform biostatistical literature reviews, and assist principal investigators in their everyday work;Consult with and train researchers in the use of STATA, R, SAS or other statistical software as well as statistical methodology;Write statistical reports for clinical studies and manuscripts;Participate and present in regular seminars and meetings;Collaborate with faculty members and trainees in epidemiology, biostatistics and medicine on study design and statistical plans for grants and pilot studies.Additional Position Specific ResponsibilitiesContribute to the preparation of manuscripts, conference presentations, grant proposals, and technical reports, including drafting methods and results sections and developing data visualizations.Ensure reproducibility and transparency in analytic workflows through version control, thorough documentation, and code review,Minimum QualificationsTo qualify you must have a Master's degree in a relevant field such as public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, data science, or a related discipline.At least 2 years of relevant experience conducting data analysis in a healthcare, public health, or policy research setting.Advanced proficiency in statistical methods for clinical trials, longitudinal and multivariate data, survival data analysis, weighted analyses, and/or high-dimensional data analysis. Strong computational skills (i.e. proficiency in SQL, SAS, R, and/or Stata, or other, and the ability to learn new languages and systems rapidly) are required.Candidates should have strong motivation and dependability, the ability to manage multiple analytic workstreams and ability to manage competing priorities, a commitment to collaborative team science, a high level of organization, and effective oral and written communication skills.Preferred QualificationsPrior involvement in multidisciplinary academic research teams and contribution to grant-funded research projects.Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.NYU Grossman School of Medicine provides its staff with far more than just a place to work.
