Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their well-being and enhancing their quality of life. This role involves assisting clients with daily living activities, promoting independence, and fostering a safe and supportive environment.
Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide patient care and support in various settings such as group homes, assisted living facilities, or in-home care.
- Monitor and document client health status, including vital signs and behavioral changes.
- Implement care plans tailored to individual needs while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with medication administration as per prescribed guidelines.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and cognitive stimulation, particularly for those with Alzheimer's or dementia care needs.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing light housekeeping duties as needed.
- Provide support during transportation to appointments or community activities.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, families, and social workers to ensure comprehensive care for clients.
Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred; experience in home health, hospice care, or long-term care is a plus.
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR certification is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with patient observation techniques and the ability to monitor client behavior effectively.
- Valid Driver's license
- Skills in cooking and meal preparation tailored to dietary needs are beneficial.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting clients using equipment such as Hoyer lifts.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
