We are seeking a Data Center / Transceiver Integration, Principal Engineer with deep expertise in optical transceivers and data center architectures to serve as a key technical interface between our engineering teams and customers. In this role, you will bridge complex system requirements and real-world deployment needs, supporting the design, validation, and integration of transceiver products into large-scale data center environments.

You will collaborate closely with customers to understand their networking and system performance goals, provide technical guidance on product selection and implementation, and partner with internal design verification teams, hardware, firmware, and systems teams to bring fiber optical transceivers into data center and resolve issues and drive product improvements. The ideal candidate combines a strong foundation in optical/electrical systems engineering with excellent communication skills and the ability to translate technical details into customer success.

A strong SONiC and Network system background is essential to effectively drive the product innovation into data center and enterprise network infrastructures built for AI/ML applications.

Responsibilities

  • Deep understanding of SONiC: Proficiency in the Software for Open Networking in the Cloud (SONiC) operating system, encompassing its architecture, components, and functionalities.
  • Transceiver Expertise: Experience with transceiver technologies, including their operation, configuration, and troubleshooting in network switch environments.
  • L2/L3 Networking Knowledge: Strong foundation in Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking protocols and concepts, such as Ethernet switching, VLANs, STP, BGP, OSPF, and VXLAN.
  • Hardware-Software Integration: Experience integrating SONiC with switch hardware platforms (ASICs, BMC), including developing and maintaining platform adaptation layers and drivers.
  • Programming Languages: Proficiency in C, C++, and Python for software development, debugging, and scripting.
  • Testing & Validation: Familiarity with network validation tools and frameworks like PTF (Packet Test Framework) and SPyTest.
  • Linux Expertise: Strong familiarity with Linux internals, including working with Docker containers for deployment and management. Champion and institutionalize new product development program management best practices, lessons learned tools, and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, hybrid models) to improve execution discipline and organizational learning.
  • Identify, track, and resolve technical dependencies and constraints in collaboration with technical engineering leaders, ensuring the integrity and feasibility of the new product development program schedule.
  • Familiar with the commercial ethernet switch from Nvidia, Arista…and transceiver operation in switch

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; Master's degree with 7 years, or PhD with 5 years of experience related to the data center switch platforms or other data center transceiver applications.
  • Strong experience with SONiC and proficiency in Python, C/C++ are a must.
  • Strong problem-solving skill is required and rich experience in working with industry partners, and customers to ensure transceiver operation in data center successfully.
  • Experience with embedded systems involving transceivers or optics is essential.
  • Excellent communication and customer engagement skills, with the ability to convey complex technical and programmatic information to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and follow-through.
  • Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Familiarity with data center architectures and system-level integration.
