About Objective Arts

Objective Arts is a 23-year-old Chicago-based company specializing in behavioral health analytics solutions. We work directly with healthcare providers to deliver data-driven insights that improve patient outcomes.

The Role

We're hiring a Senior Full-Stack Engineer for a unique position that combines deep technical work (70%) with direct customer interaction (30%). This is NOT a typical heads-down development role.

Location Requirement: Must be based in Chicago, Illinois. This position requires in-person collaboration.
Purely remote candidates will not be considered.

What You'll Do

  • Design and implement scalable AWS architectures for healthcare data systems
  • Build full-stack applications using Java/Spring backend and Angular frontend
  • Build with AI coding tools - Cursor, Claude Code, Warp etc.
  • Lead weekly technical calls with healthcare provider customers
  • Explain complex technical concepts to non-technical clinical stakeholders
  • Provide daily customer support via Slack and email
  • Troubleshoot production issues in real-time with customer teams
  • Collaborate in-person with Chicago-based team members

Technical Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • Deep expertise in Java and all flavors of Spring Framework (Boot, MVC, Security, Data, Cloud) Production AWS architecture experience - we need someone who understands design patterns and tradeoffs, not just how to use services
  • Strong Angular experience (or similar modern frontend framework)
  • Experience with healthcare data or regulated industries (preferred)
  • Substantive experience with modern AI software tools - Claude Code and other CLI tools, Cursor etc.

The Non-Negotiables

  • Based in Chicago, Illinois area Comfortable with 6-8 hours/week of customer interaction (calls, emails, explanations)
  • Genuinely interested in (or at least not drained by) talking to customers and comfortable working in a small company environment.
  • Must have demonstrable AI coding experience.

What Makes This Role Different

  • Most engineers self-select out at "customer interaction" - and that's fine. We need someone who either enjoys that blend or at least finds energy in helping customers understand technical solutions.
