The Portfolio Manager as part of a Portfolio Management Team oversees the entire life cycle of commercial credit, from monitoring and servicing existing relationships to identifying new opportunities from existing clients and adapting to evolving client needs. They balance risk and opportunity, ensuring loans are structured soundly, monitored diligently, and modified responsibly to support regulatory compliance, minimize credit losses, and maintain portfolio integrity.

The Director of Commercial Loan Origination & Portfolio Management provides strategic leadership across the lending lifecycle. This executive role oversees Team Leads and Senior Portfolio Managers, aligning credit operations with enterprise goals. The Director is responsible for business line reporting, system administration, and regulatory engagement. They shape credit strategy, drive innovation, and lead cross-functional initiatives that enhance scalability and performance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide strategic direction for commercial loan origination and portfolio management.

  2. Oversee leadership teams and ensure alignment with enterprise objectives.

  3. Lead business line reporting, regulatory engagement, and audit readiness.

  4. Drive innovation in systems, processes, and credit strategy.

  5. Serve as a key stakeholder in enterprise projects and transformation initiatives.

  6. Manage vendor relationships and system administration activities.

  7. Shape and enforce risk governance frameworks.

  8. Mentor senior leaders and build organizational capability.

  9. Represent the function in executive forums and strategic planning.

  10. Ensure scalable, compliant, and client-focused lending operations.

  11. Compliance with any and all BSA/AML/CFT and Sanctions requirements set forth by Bank Policy and Procedure, including but not limited to timely completion of assigned training.

SECONDARY DUTIES

The position performs duties specific to the position and other functions as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

The position is responsible for the supervision of all office employees and is expected to provide leadership, training and support to staff members.

ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

The incumbent is in a non-confined office setting in which they are free to move about at will. In the course of performing the duties and responsibilities of this position spends time writing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 25 pounds), sitting, typing on a computer keyboard, and standing, kneeling and reaching.

The incumbent for this position may operate any or all of the following: telephone, copy and fax machine, adding machine, computer and related printers.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or equivalent preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership in commercial lending or credit operations.
  • Proven success in enterprise strategy and transformation.
  • Expertise in credit risk, regulatory frameworks, and system governance.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and large-scale initiatives.
  • Track record of innovation and operational excellence.
  • Deep understanding of commercial lending systems and reporting.
