At Peraton, you won't just support the mission — you'll define it.

The Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst provides oversight and operational leadership for security monitoring, event triage, and incident response activities, ensuring continuous protection, resilience, and readiness of FAA systems and networks. This role integrates deep technical expertise with strategic planning and interagency collaboration to defend against emerging cyber threats while ensuring compliance with national policies, regulations, and security standards.

Key Responsibilities

Cybersecurity Monitoring & Incident Response

  • Lead event triage processes, assessing severity, scope, and potential impact of security events.

  • Coordinate incident response actions, ensuring rapid containment, eradication, and recovery from cybersecurity incidents.

  • Provide after-action analysis and contribute to the development of lessons learned and best practices to strengthen operational resilience.

Cyber Operations Planning & Support

  • Develop and implement detailed support plans for a range of cyber operations in collaboration with planners, operators, analysts, and military leadership.

  • Participate in targeting selection, validation, synchronization, integration, and execution of cyber activities to support mission objectives.

  • Provide operational guidance and technical recommendations to ensure alignment with FAA priorities, national security requirements, and interagency mandates.

Policy, Compliance & Governance

  • Analyze and review cybersecurity strategies, doctrine, policies, and directives, ensuring compliance with federal regulations, FAA-specific guidance, and military requirements when applicable.

  • Assist interagency partners in the development and refinement of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for cyber operations and mission support.

  • Develop, review, and apply specific cyber operations guidance for integration into broader enterprise and agency planning activities.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Advisory

  • Act as a liaison to internal and external stakeholders, including federal, defense, and interagency partners, to ensure alignment of objectives and resources.

  • Provide input into the administrative and logistical elements of operational support plans, including resource prioritization and capability acquisition.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to leverage analytical and technical expertise to meet mission requirements and enhance system security.

Operational & Strategic Contribution

  • Review, approve, prioritize, and submit operational requirements for research, development, and acquisition of advanced cyber capabilities.

  • Provide recommendations to leadership on cyber operations objectives, strategies, plans, and programs.

  • Draft and deliver briefings, policy documents, decision papers, staffing packages, memorandums, and official correspondence for senior leadership and interagency stakeholders.

  • Contribute to organizational improvement by developing new approaches for coordination, integration, and execution of SOC and cybersecurity operations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

    • 15+ years of relevant experience with a BS/BA.

    • 12–15 years with a MS/MA.

    • 10–13 years with a PhD.

  • Expertise in cybersecurity principles, operations security, cyber threats, and vulnerabilities.

  • Strong knowledge of national regulations, policies, ethics, and standards as they relate to cybersecurity and cyber operations.
